A transcutaneous energy transfer device is provided which has a magnetic shield covering the primary winding of the device to reduce sensitivity of the device to conducting objects in the vicinity of the coils and to increase the percentage of magnetic field generated by the primary coil which reaches the secondary coil. This shield is preferably larger than the primary coil in all dimensions and is either formed of a high permeability flexible material, for example a low loss magnetic material in a flexible polymer matrix, with perforations formed in the material sufficient to permit ventilation of the patient's skin situated under the shield, or the shield may be formed of segments of very high permeability material connected by a flexible, porous mesh material.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de transfert transcutané de l'énergie qui possède un écran magnétique enveloppant la bobine primaire du dispositif de manière à réduire la sensibilité du dispositif aux objets conducteurs se trouvant dans la proximité des bobines et à augmenter la quantité de champ magnétique généré par la bobine primaire qui atteint la bobine secondaire. Toutes les dimensions de l'écran sont de préférence plus importantes que celles de la bobine primaire, l'écran étant formé de préférence soit d'un matériau souple à perméabilité élevée, par exemple, d'un matériau magnétique à faibles pertes placé dans une matrice polymère et comprenant des perforations suffisantes pour aérer la peau du patient recouvertes par l'écran, soit de segments d'un matériau à perméabilité très élevée, reliés par un matériau souple et poreux en grille.
