-16- ABSTRACT: A magnetic-tape cassette has a housing compris- ing a front wall with front openings behind which a part of a magnetic tape extends. The front wall can be convered by the major portion of a pivotal cassette cover, which is connected to side wallls of the cassette by cover flanges. Each of the side walls has a semicircular slot which is concentric with the pivotal axis of the cover, which slot engages a journal on the adjacent cover flange and is situated at that side of the pivotal axis which is remote from the front wall symmetrically relative to a plane of symmetry halfway between the major walls of the cassette. In each cover flange a straight slot is formed whose axis is situated in the plane of symmetry in closed position of the cover, which slot engages a pivot pin on the adj- cent side wall. Each slot has a recessed portion at the side which is remote from the pivotal axis, the journal being urged into said recessed portion under spring force in the closed position of the cover.
