1 PHQ. 78-006 ABSTRACT: A magnetic tape drive system for passing a thin flexible magnetic tape along a plurality of magnetic heads of a video cassette recorder comprises a so-called reversible magnetic tape cassette with adjacent spools, which are provided with a reel hub having a disc-shaped centring and drive member disposed in the centre of the spool and provided with a central centring aperture and one or more drive apertures at some radial distance from the centring aperture, and further comprises a drive arrangement with a drive spindle having a centring pin, which pin cooperates with said centring aperture in the reel hub, and provided with at least one resiliently depressable drive pin which cooperates with a drive aper- ture. In order to ensure a correct positioning and drive of the spools and thus an excellent lace-up, so as to prevent undesired variations in the tensile stress in the magnetic tape and thus variations of the stretch of the magnetic tape, the reel hubs are resiliently urged onto stops which rotate along with the drive spindles and the spools are supported by the stops at such a height in the magnetic tape cassette that the spools run entirely clear of the walls of the magnetic tape cassette.
