A holographic projection device for displaying a 3-dimensional image comprises an elliptical holographic disc, and a cylindrical base having a diagonally-cut top portion. The elliptical holographic disc comprises a rigid planar substrate, a reflection-type hologram, and at least one magnetic element. The cylindrical base comprises a point source of white light for illuminating the reflection-type hologram, and at least one magnetic element. The reflection-type hologram projects an upright orthoscopic image having both horizontal and vertical parallaxes. The cylindrical base has the capability of detachably mounting the elliptical holographic disc with a magnetic attraction force between the magnetic element of the elliptical holographic disc and the magnetic element of the cylindrical base so that different elliptical holographic discs can be interchangeably mounted an the cylindrical base. This invention relates to holographic projection devices for displaying a 3-dimensional image, and the principal use of the invention is for optical decoration.
