A method for sequencing nucleotides by attaching magnetizable moieties to the components of a mixture of such polynucleotides, proteins and fragments, subjecting the mixture to a separation procedure to distribute the compounds on a substrate in a pattern according to molecular size and quantity, imparting magnetic properties to the attached magnetizable moieties, and then subjecting the substrate to magnetic reading to determine the molecular size and quantity of the compounds. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring a molecule amplification process wherein primers are used to produce copies of a molecule, which primers become part of the copy of the molecule by attaching a magnetized moiety to each primer such that the copy has magnetizable moieties at each end. The magnetizable moieties may then be magnetized. By subjecting the mixture to a magnetic field, the primers in the mixture can be separated from the copies produced and then the copies produced can be analyzed by a magnetic field sensor to determine the amount of copies produced.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour séquencer les nucléotides dans lequel on attache des groupes magnétisables à des composantes d'un mélange de polynucléotides, de protéines et autres fragments, on soumet le mélange à une opération de séparation pour répartir les composés sur un substrat suivant un motif qui dépend de la taille moléculaire et de la quantité, et on confère des propriétés magnétiques aux groupes magnétisables fixés avant de soumettre le substrat à une lecture magnétique pour déterminer la taille moléculaire et la quantité des composés. On décrit également un procédé pour suivre le déroulement d'un processus d'amplification moléculaire, dans lequel on utilise des amorces pour produire des copies d'une molécule, lesquelles amorces deviennent partie intégrante de la copie d'une molécule en fixant un groupe magnétisé à chaque amorce pour que la copie ait des groupes magnétisables à chaque extrémité. Les groupes magnétisables peuvent ensuite être magnétisés. Ensuite, on soumet le mélange à un champ magnétique, pour séparer les amorces dans le mélange des copies produites et ensuite analyser les copies produites à l'aide d'un détecteur de champ magnétique pour déterminer la quantité de copies produites.
