Abstract: A magneto-optic transducer comprises a thin planar sheet (1) of magnetic material and means for producing a first magnetic field (2) substantially perpendicular to said sheet, generating magnetic bubbles (6; 6a - 6d) therein. A pattern of thin magnetic film (3; 3a - 3d) is applied to the surface of the sheet to define a guide path for the magnetic bubbles. Means are provided for producing a second magnetic field (4) in the plane of the sheet for moving the magnetic bubbles along the guide path, and means are provided for optically sensing the presence of the magnetic bubbles at least at one location in the guide path.
