- 1 - Abstract: A main steam inlet structure of a steam turbine has two inlet tubes that are separably connected between an inner casing and an outer casing of the turbine. The tubes are arranged concentrically with an annular space between them. The inner tube constitutes an inflow passage for high temperature, high pressure main steam and the space between the tubes constitutes a passage for flow of cooling steam extracted from an intermediate stage of the turbine. This steam serves to cool the inner inlet tube. The structure is subjected to less thermal stress than in conventional arrangements.
