12 ABSTRACT: Mains-voltage discrimination device. A mains-voltage discrimination device for adapting a load (8) to a lower or higher alternating- voltage range is described. Discrimination is effected by means of a voltage-dependent resistor (1) which is thermally coupled to a PTC-resistor (2) which is elec- trically arranged in series with said voltage-dependent resistor (1), the resistors (1,2) being chosen so that initially the dissipation is mainly determined by the voltage-dependent resistor (1).
