A playback system in a digital cinema network synchronizes the presentation of visual and aural content by deriving timing information for packets of information that are conveyed in video and audio data streams, examining the timing information to determine if any misalignment between the two data streams is likely to be perceptible and, if the misalignment is deemed to be perceptible, introducing delays into one or both data streams to correct the misalignment. If the audio data stream precedes the video data stream, the audio data stream is delayed by an integer number of audio sample periods. If the video data stream precedes the audio data stream, the video data stream is delayed by an integer number of video frames and the audio data stream is delayed by an integer number of audio sample periods. Reduce the playback levels of audio content preceeding the inserted information and increase playback levels of audio content following the inserted information.
L'invention concerne un système de lecture destiné à un réseau de cinéma numérique, permettant de synchroniser la présentation de contenu audio et vidéo selon une technique consistant à dériver des informations de synchronisation pour des paquets d'informations qui sont acheminés dans des trains de données audio et vidéo, à examiner ces informations de synchronisation pour déterminer si un décalage entre deux trains de données est éventuellement perceptible et, si un décalage est perceptible, à introduire des retards dans l'un des deux ou les deux trains de données pour corriger ce décalage. Si le train de données audio précède le train de données vidéo, le train de données audio est retardé par un nombre entier de périodes d'échantillonnage audio. Si le train de données vidéo précède le train de données audio, le train de données vidéo est retardé par un nombre entier d'images vidéo et le train de données audio est retardé par un nombre entier de périodes d'échantillonnage audio.
