The invention provides a portable and autonomous assistance device to derive information on faults in a private telecommunication installation comprising particularly equipment units to assist the client owning the installation in maintaining the latter. A maintenance session is selected in a maintenance server of the service provider managing the installation as a function of information transmitted by the assistance device so as to provide instructions in the device. The address of the server and an identifier of the equipment unit are rapidly read by means of a bar code reader which can also read bar codes in a user manual. The assistance device also serves to configure a terminal (TE) by means of a configuration session opened in a server (SFT) of the terminal manufacturer.
L'invention fournit un dispositif d'assistance portable et autonome (DAS) pour établir des informations sur des défaillances d'une installation de télécommunication privée (ITC) comprenant notamment des terminaux (TE) afin d'assister le client possédant l'installation dans la maintenance de celle-ci. Une session de maintenance est sélectionnée dans un serveur de maintenance (SM) du prestataire gestionnaire de l'installation en fonction des informations transmises par le dispositif d'assistance afin de présenter des consignes dans le dispositif . L'adresse du serveur ainsi qu'un identificateur de l'équipement sont lus rapidement au moyen d'un lecteur de code à barres qui peut également lire des codes à barre dans un manuel d'utilisateur. Le dispositif d'assistance sert également à configurer un terminal (TE) grâce à une session de configuration ouverte dans un serveur (SFT) du fabricant du terminal.
