For making or breaking a coupling between a pipe section (1) and a pipe string (2) projecting from a rotary drilling rig into a bore hole in the lithosphere, the pipe section (1) is rotated relative to the pipe string (2) by applying a torque up to a make-up or breaking torque. Exertion of said torque generates a reactive torque in an opposite sense of rotation. Rotation induced by a motor (17; 50) is transferred to the pipe string (2) so that said pipe string (2) is rotated as well. The reactive torque is transferred to the pipe string (2) along a path bypassing the motor (17; 50). Thus, the make-up or breaking torque can be exerted without requiring a substantial change of the torque exerted to rotate the pipe string (2) at a constant rotational velocity in order to avoid changes of the rotational velocity of the pipe string (2). A pipe coupling device and a pipe handler for carrying out this method are described as well.
Pour former ou rompre un raccord entre une section (1) de tiges et un train (2) de tiges dépassant d'une installation de forage rotary dans un puits dans la lithosphère, la section (1) de tiges tourne par rapport au train (2) de tiges par application d'un couple jusqu'à atteindre un couple de blocage ou de rupture. L'application dudit couple produit un couple réactif dans un sens de rotation opposé. La rotation induite par un moteur (17; 50) est transférée au train (2) de tiges de manière que ledit train (2) de tiges tourne également. Le couple réactif est transmis au train (2) de tiges le long d'une voie contournant le moteur (17; 50). Ainsi, le couple de blocage ou de rupture peut être exercé sans nécessiter de changement substantiel du couple exercé pour faire tourner le train (2) de tiges à une vitesse de rotation constante, afin d'éviter les changements de vitesse de rotation du train (2) de tiges. Un dispositif de raccordement de tiges et un dispositif de gerbage de tiges destinés à mettre en oeuvre ce procédé sont également décrits.
