ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE What is disclosed are a continuous emulsion polymerization method for making an aqueous dispersion of an impact resistant resin adaptable to use as a component of impact resistant polymethacrylate forming masses, which method comprises first emulsion polymerizing a first monomer component onto core particles of a seed latex, in the presence of an initiator and an emulsifier, until a degree of polymerization of said monomers from 80 to 95 percent is attained whereby an intermediate product comprising said core particles covered with a rubbery polymer phase is obtained, and then emulsion polymerizing a second monomer component onto the particles of said intermediate product, in the presence of further added initiator but without addition of further emulsifier, to form a shell of harder polymer on the particles of said intermediate product, said first monomer component comprising one or more monomers considered "soft" from the point of view of their overall effect, and said second monomer component comprising one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of acrylates and methacrylates which, when polymerized, form a polymer having a T.lambda.max of at least 45°C., and resin products produced by this method.
