ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for applying a coating of a scratch resistant and weather resistant film to a shaped article by applying to said article a thin film of a mixture of a free radically polymerizable monomer having at least two polymerizable olefinic bonds, a peroxide initiator having a half life of less than two minutes at 100°C, and an ultra- violet stabilizer, and then curing said film by heating it to a temperature above 70°C; coated shaped articles made by this method.
