MAMMAMODULIN, A HORMONE-INDEPENDENT MAMMARY TUMOR CELLS SPECIFIC PROTEIN ABSTRACT Mammamodulin (MM), a novel 52-55 kDa protein expressed by hormone- independent mammary tumor cells, has been found to affect the morphology, motility, growth and hormone receptor expression of hormone-dependent mammary tumor cells. The presence of MM, e.g., in tumor biopsies, is an important diagnostic indicator. Inhibitors of MM activity, such as MAbs to MM and MM antagonists, are useful in the treatment and control of breast cancer.
La mammamoduline (MM), une nouvelle protétine de 52-55 kDa exprimée par les cellules tumorales mammaires hormono-indépendentes, s'est avérée avoir une influence sur la morphologie, la motilité, le développement et l'expression du récepteur hormonal des cellules tumorales mammaires hormono-dépendentes. La présence de MM, par exemple dans des biopsies tumorales, est un indicateur de diagnostique important. Les inhibiteurs de l'activité de MM, tels que des anticorps monoclonaux MAbs contre la MM et des antagonistes de MM, sont utiles dans le traitement et la lutte contre le cancer du sein.
