A system (Fig. 1) for assuring quality of service for Data Network Telephone calls such as Internet Protocol Network Telephony calls (180, 81, 203) has software (SW) for monitoring established DNT calls for adequate bandwidth. If the available bandwidth falls below a threshold, an alternative conventional call (118). Such as a PSTN or ISDN (100) call is made to replace the DNT call. Once the alternative call (118) is established, the original call (180, 181, 203) is ended. After the original call (180, 181, 203) is ended, tests of the DNT path continue and in some cases, if adequate DNT bandwidth becomes available, the call is switched back to DNT (180, 181, 203).
L'invention concerne un système permettant d'assurer la qualité de service pour des appels utilisant la téléphonie des réseaux de données (DNT), tels que des appels utilisant la téléphonie par réseau IP (IPNT), qui a un logiciel permettant de contrôler des appels DNT établis pour une largeur de bande adéquate. On met en mémoire une largeur de bande seuil, ou une valeur de paramètre liée à une largeur de bande, et on effectue périodiquement des tests sur la voie d'appel DNT que l'on compare au seuil. Si la largeur de bande disponible passe au-dessous du seuil, un autre appel classique, tel qu'un appel PSTN ou ISDN remplace l'appel DNT. Une fois l'autre appel établi, l'appel initial est interrompu. Une fois l'appel initial interrompu, on poursuit des tests de la voie DNT, et dans certains cas, si une largeur de bande DNT adéquate devient disponible, l'appel est renvoyé sur la DNT. Dans certains cas, des alertes sont proposées aux participants, et on réserve la possibilité à l'un ou l'autre des deux participants à une communication d'approuver une commutation du type de service.
