ABSTRACT Mandrel rod holding device, particularly for continuously operating tube rolling mills for the manufacture of seamless pipes by means of rolling carried out in several driven rolling stands under utilization of an elongated mandrel which is retarded in a controlled manner during stretching of the hollow blank by means of a mandrel shifting block which is releasably connected jo the mandrel rod end and can be moved in the direction of rolling by means of a drive, while after passage of the rear end of the pipe through one or several of the rolling stands, the mandrel rod is released and runs through the rolling mill in direction of rolling characterized, by a two-arm lever being pivotable in the direction of rolling, on the mandrel shifting block and about an axis extending transversely to the direction of rolling, one end of the two-arm lever holding the mandrel rod end in one pivot position in form- fitting connection while releasing the mandrel rod in the other pivot position, and the other end of the lever being jointed to a toggle lever which in its extended position maintains the holding force for the mandrel rod.
