Mannich condensation products prepared by the condensation of a compound of formula (III), wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R1 is hydrogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl; R5 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, aralkyl, alkaryl, or an acyl group of formula (a), wherein R6 is alkyl, phenyl, aralkyl or alkaryl; and n is an integer from 5 to 100; with an aldehyde and a nitrogen base selected from ammonia, lower alkylamine, a polyamine and mixtures thereof. The Mannich condensation products and their fuel-soluble salts are useful as fuel additives for the prevention and control of engine deposits.

Produits obtenus par condensation de Mannich, préparés par condensation d'un composé de formule (III) dans laquelle R est hydrogène ou alkyle inférieur ayant 1 à 6 atomes de carbone; R¿1? est hydrogène, hydroxy, alkyle inférieur ou alcoxy inférieur; R¿3? et R¿4? sont indépendamment hydrogène ou alkyle inférieur; R¿5? est hydrogène, alkyle, phényle, aralkyle, alkaryle ou un groupe acyle de formule (a) dans laquelle R¿6? est alkyle, phényle, aralkyle ou alkaryle; et n est un nombre entier de 5 à 100; avec un aldéhyde et une base azote choisie parmi gaz ammoniac, alkylamine inférieure, une polyamine et des mélanges desdites substances. Lesdits produits obtenus par condensation de Mannich et leurs sels solubles dans du carburant sont utiles en tant qu'additifs de carburant pour prévenir et lutter contre les dépôts dans les moteurs.
