ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A manual liquid lubricant applicator device for ap- plying a liquid lubricant to the surface of the end portion of a tube has an upwardly open, tubular container member for hold- ing the lubricant, an inverted, closed ended tubular insert member positioned within the tubular container member, a tubular applicator positioned within the container member and between the container member and the insert member; and a circumferential flange on one of the members and directed laterally towards the other of the members to compress the applicator between the members and within a narrow opening at a height above the level of the liquid carried by the container to provide an essentially closed reservoir for the liquid, preventing excess wetting of the applicator portion protruding from said opening and prevent- ing spillage of liquid upon tipping of the container.
