ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A manually operated pair of tongs is provided, for handling concrete paving stones and the like. The tongs have a u-shaped frame, the shorter side of which carries a handle and the longer side of which carries a pair of jaws. One of the pair of jaws is fixedly mounted to the u-shaped frame, and the other jaw is hingeably mounted to an angle- shaped lever, which is pivoted on the frame and which co- operates with a link joined to a lever arm which is also privoted to the frame, below the handle.
