The manually winded battery-charging timer according to the present invention has a manually-operated spring winded clock timer coupled to a miniature electric generator encapsulated within a housing, which are rated to the particular portable appliance battery charging requirements. An electronic circuit also within the same housing, rectifies and regulates the generator voltage and also provides the necessary components and functions to charge the appliance battery at the proper rate. The assembly is made and water tight and adapted to a clamping frame that provides a hand holding grip to counter the torque force required by the finger-winding knob. Preferrably, this hand held frame forms a snap-on clip to the particular portable appliance that automatically plugs into the appliance in the clipping process and also as pocket or belt clip. In an aspect of the invention, the timer preloaded leaf spring is rated to provide a full battery charge with a single turn of a manually operated knob, and a pointer on the knob shows the actual time-setting according to an engraved scale on the housing. In yet another aspect of the invention, the battery-charging timer is provided as an integral part of the appliance basic design resulting in a battery size that can be very substantially reduced since battery-operating time is no longer a major problem.
