ABSTRACT A method for the manufacture of a superconductor with a supercon- ductive intermetallic compound consisting of at least two elements in which one ductile component of at least one element of the compound is brought into contact with a second component which contains a ductile carrier metal for the remaining elements of the compound whereafter the remaining elements of the compound are supplied to the second ductile component through decomposi- tion of their alkyl compounds at elevated temperature and the compound is formed through a heat treatment. The superconductors produced in this manner are particularly well suited for superconducting magnet coils.
