Alpha-olefins are manufactured in high yield and with very high slectivity by contacting ethylene with an iron complex of a selected 2,6- pyridinedicarboxaldehyde bisimine or a selected 2,6-diacylpyridine bisimine, and in some cases a selected activator compound such as an alkyl aluminum compound. Novel bisimines and their iron complexes are also disclosed. The .alpha.-olefins are useful as monomers and chemical intermediates.
La présente invention concerne la production d'alpha-oléfines en grande quantité et haute sélectivité en mettant en contact l'éthylène et un complexe de fer d'une 2, 6-pyridinedicarboxaldéhyde bis-imine sélectionnée ou d'une 2, 6-diacylpyridine bis-imine sélectionnée, et dans certains cas, un composé activateur sélectionné tel qu'un composé alkyle aluminium. L'invention concerne également de nouveaux bis-imines ainsi que leurs complexes de fer. Les .alpha.-oléfines sont utiles comme monomères et comme produits chimiques intermédiaires.
