A B S T R A C T The invention relates to the manufacture of atactic polyolefin waxes by polymerization of propylene in a hydrocarbon solvent under low pressure. The polymerization is conducted in the presence of a catalyst system compris- ing a compound of magnesium and a transition metal of sub-groups IVa, Va and VIa of periodic table and an organometallic compound of a metal of the groups II and III of the periodic table. The waxes so prepared are separated from the solvent. The atactic polyolefin waxes according to the invention are particularly useful in the manufacture of adhesives.
