MANUFACTURE OF FILAMENTARY COMPOSITES Abstract of Disclosure This invention relates to improvements in the industrial manufacture of composite tubes in a continuous fashion. The manufacture utilizes a segmented mandrel which proceeds as a train of endwise joined segments through a composite tube forming machine. Segments are added to and subtracted from the mandrel during manufacture of the tubes. Subtraction of mandrel segments is improved through the use of a rotating wrench which (a) grasps the leading mandrel segments through insertion of a plurality of pins into holes in the forward end of the leading segment, (b) rotates the mandrel segment and then (c) withdraws the leading segment from the segmented mandrel as the pins are removed from the holes.
