- 1 - ROGERS, BERESKIN & PARR CANADA Title: CONICAL WEDGE FASTENING SYSTEM Inventor: RUDOLF RIETZ ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure relates to a method of fastening together two members, one of which is moulded in a plas- tic material. One example of an application of the method is in the manufacture of furniture articles such as chairs of the type comprising a moulded plastic shell and a metal frame supporting the shell. The shell and frame are fastened together by driving a conical fasten- ing element into a moulded post on the shell which ex- tends through an opening in the frame. The element becomes buried in the post and causes it to "mushroom" and form a head at the outer side of the frame member.
