ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is concerned with a process for the manufacture of xylitol-containing hard candies, which process comprises preparing a xylitol melt, adding powdered xylitol to said xylitol melt at a temperature of at most about the melting temperature of xylitol, pouring the resulting mass into molds and solidifying the melt by cooling to room temperature. Compact hard candies are thereby formed and brittleness of the product is avoided.
