Abstract of the disclosure Tetrasodiumpyrophosphate-containing liquid detergent compositions are prepared by dissolving tatrasodium- pyrophosphate in an aqueous medium at a temperature of above 79.5°C, and adding the resulting solution to an aqueous medium comprising the balance of the final liquid detergent composition, which medium is kept at a temperature of below 79.5.C. In this way, the formation of grit in the liquid detergent composition is substantially prevented,
