An improved hand tool is provided for applying flexible adhesive strip around the perimeter of a glass sheet in the fabrication of insulated glass panels. The hand tool includes a guide for locating it relative to the edge of the glass sheet, and a channel through which the flexible adhesive strip passes and is pressed onto the glass. The tool includes a punch or knife arrangement for notching or slitting the strip to facilitate its bending at the corners of the glass panel. Severing of the strip is effected, not by a separate knife in the tool, but by the same punch that is used for notching or slitting, the tool including a mechanism for effecting relative lateral movement between the punch or knife and the strip. When thus laterally shifted, actuation of the punch or knife will sever the strip rather than forming a notch or slit.
