Process for making paper or paper board comprising, forming an aqueous cellulosic suspension, adding a retention system to the cellulosic suspension, draining the suspension on a screen to form a sheet and drying the sheet, wherein the retention system comprises a swelling clay which has a TAPPI brightness of at least 70.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de fabrication de papier et de carton consistant à former une suspension cellulosique aqueuse, à ajouter un système de rétention dans la suspension cellulosique, à drainer la suspension sur un tamis de manière à former une feuille, et à sécher cette feuille, le système de rétention contenant de l'argile gonflante qui présente une luminosité, selon les normes TAPPI, d'au moins 70.
