The present invention provides a process for the preparation of 1-[2-amino-1- (p- methoxyphenyl)ethyl]cyclohexanol of formula V comprising reduction of 1-[cyano- (p- methoxyphenyl)methyl]cyclohexanol of formula IV using Raney Nickel CORM-III as the catalyst. (see formula IV), (see formula V)

Ce procédé de préparation d'hydroxy (cycloalcane/cyclocène) phényléthylamine correspondant à la formule générale (III), comporte une alkylation de son amine précurseur correspondant à la formule générale (II), produite elle-même par un procédé efficace de réduction de son cyanure précurseur correspondant à la formule générale (I), et ce, en présence de nickel de Raney (CORMIII) comme catalyseur. Dans ces formules, R5 ou R6, qui peuvent, de manière indépendante, être en position méta ou para, représentent, de manière indépendante, un hydrogène, un hydroxy, un alkyle, un alcoxy, un alkanoyloxy, un cyano, un nitro, un alkyl-mercapto, un amino, un alkylamino, un alcanamido, un halo, un trifluorométhyle, ou si R 5 et R6 sont pris ensemble, ils représentent un méthylènedioxy, la valeur de n est égale à 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ; R7 représente un hydrogène ou un alkyle ayant de 1 à 7 atomes de carbone, R1 représente un hydrogène ou un alkyle ayant de 1 à 3 atomes de carbone et R2 représente un alkyle ayant de 1 à 3 atomes de carbone, la ligne en pointillés représentant une éventuelle insaturation. Les composés correspondant aux formules IV, V et VI sont, respectivement, des dérivés des composés correspondant aux formules I, II et III.
