MANUFACTURE OF SPIGOTED AND WIDE-NECKED CASKS Abstract The method for manufacturing spigoted casks, which was developed with the aim of obtaining injection mounded lids and blow moulded cask bodies that are true to size, is characterized by: the blow moulding of double cask bodies from plastic and the central separation thereof into two bodies; the manufacture by injection moulding of spigoted lids from plastic; cooling of the cask bodies and the spigoted lids to size in cooling and calibrat- ing sections following the blow moulding machine for manufacture of the double cask bodies, and the injection moulding machine for the cask lids; and, welding of the spigoted lids to the cask bodies. The method for manufacturing wide-necked casks provides for the blow moulding of double cask bodies from plastic and the central separation thereof into two bodies each with edging arranged at a distance below the cask opening, manufacture by injection moulding of cask lids from plastic with an outer flange formed on the lower rim of the lid, cooling of the cask bodies and lids to size in cooling and calibrating sections following the blow moulding machine for manufacture of the double cask bodies and the injection moulding machine for the lids, injection of a synthetic sealing compound into the lids, mounting the lids onto the cask bodies and sealing the lids with a clamping ring.
