ABSTRACT A process for the preparation of a flame-retardant polyisocyanurate foam, which comprises reacting a polyisocyanate with a polyhydroxyl compound at an NCO/OH equivalent ratio of at least 1.5 in the presence of a catalyst and a foaming agent, wherein thermally expansible graphite is added as a flame retardant. A polyisocyanurate foam having an excellent flame-retardance can be obtained. - 22 -
