Description

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A ceramic body having continuous three-dimensional through holes can be employed as a filter for filtration of non- metallic inclusions in a molten metal and as a porous plug for introducing a gaseous medium for flotation of such non- metallic inclusions on the surface of a molten metal bath. The ceramic body is prepared by placing an organic body having a three-dimensional construction in a casting mold, pouring a slip of a ceramic material into the mold, and after drying, baking the molded body for decomposition of the organic porous body. The ceramic body thus provided, has within it, three-dimensionally interconnected through holes and has a high mechanical strength.
