ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method of manufacturing foam-padded upholstered articles with an integral upholstery adhering to the material of the foam and in which a substantially airtight upholstery material is first vacuum formed and a foam- able synthetic material is subsequently foamed into contact with the resulting formed upholstery. The invention includes the improvement which comprises the step of pressing inwardly on the formed upholstery to thereby induce at least one fold or pleat therein at a desired location. The remaining material of the upholstery is straightened out before the material of the foam hardens. A plurality of such folds or pleats may be so induced.
