There is provided an exhaust silencer having an axial inlet opening and an axial outlet opening spaced axially from the inlet opening comprising a cylindrical shell, a number of rib members with openings securely positioned within said shell with rods, and perforated tube members and noise damping members. wherein the rib members are longitudinally equi-distancely spaced apart and the perforated tube member nearest the outlet opening is tapered.
