INVENTORS: JEAN-MICHEL SHCAULIN, ROBERT GANTIN and Y?SAR KANAT INVENTION: MARINE FIRING WEAPON FOR FIGHTING AIRBORNE TARGETS, ESPECIALLY IN ZENITH ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A marine firing or weapon system is disclosed for fighting rapidly moving targets in zenith and possesses an azimuth or lateral alignment axis which is inclined through about 35°. The ammunition infeed is accomplished from four stationary drum magazines rotatable about vertical axes. The drum magazines are located below the weapon. Since the belted ammunition, owing to the inclined azimuth alignment or aiming axis is infed along a bent, central, column which is vertical or upright at its lower region, there is required lengthwise compensation of the belted ammunition during azimuth alignment or aiming of the weapon. The weapon barrels are cooled. Because of the inclined azimuth alignment axis the minimum elevation is limited by an adjustable stop or impact member. The drum magazines possess compartments each of which contain a respective loop of the cartridge belt.
