ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A marine propulsion device comprising a transom bracket adapted to be affixedly mounted on the transom of a boat, a propulsion unit mounted on the transom bracket for pivotal movement relative thereto about a generally horizontal tilt axis, an extendable and contractable link connected between the transom bracket and the propulsion unit for pivoting the propulsion unit about the tilt axis, and a mechanism for stopping pivotal movement of the propulsion unit in response to the position of the link relative to the propulsion unit.
