There is disclosed a marine wildlife deterrent device for deterring wildlife from a specific geographical area. The apparatus includes a sound broadcasting system and a housing for the system. The housing floats in water and provides a drift controlling deflector. Advantageously, the device may be readily deployed in, for example, an oil spill to disperse wildlife and therefore prevent fouling.
