ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A subterranean marker of the earth coil type is an elongated narrow cylindrical unit which is easy to mount in a hole without significant digging. The unit includes a resonance circuit having a coil which is wound on a ferrite core, which conditions the small diameter of the unit. The housing of the unit is thick walled for ensuring constantly good dielectric properties in the immediate surroundings of the coil, regardless of mounting conditions, and the housing is sealed to safeguard the interior dielectric properties. The marker is extremely durable and reliable and conditions a very accurate localization of the surface point above the marker, and in practice this is decisive for an important novel applica- tion or use of such markers, viz. the use of subterranean markers for the marking of official fixpoints in geodetic and similar land register systems.
