An electrode for use in industrial processes is provided with a mark. The marking apparatus comprises an information unit for providing a mark (110) representing some form of information relating to the electrode (100). The mark is arranged as a part of the electrode. A corresponding electrode mark reading apparatus for providing information related to an electrode comprises a radiation unit for directing radiation towards the electrode, a detection unit for detecting radiation reflected by or transmitted through at least a part of the electrode, and for converting said detected radiation into a converted signal. A decoding unit is adapted to transform the converted signal into a decoded signal. A part of the decoded signal is related to a mark on said electrode. Conversion means for converting said decoded signal into an electrode code is provided for obtaining code representing a feature related to the electrode.
Une électrode conçue pour être utilisée dans des domaines industriels est pourvue d'un repère. Un dispositif de repérage comprend une unité d'information servant à produire un repère (110) représentant une certaine forme d'information concernant l'électrode (100). Ce repère est solidaire de l'électrode. Un dispositif correspondant de lecture de repère d'électrode servant à produire une information concernant une électrode comporte une unité de rayonnement servant à diriger un rayonnement en direction de l'électrode, une unité de détection servant à détecter le rayonnement réfléchi par au moins une partie de l'électrode ou transmis à travers cette dernière, ainsi qu'à convertir ledit rayonnement détecté en un signal converti. Une unité de décodage est conçue pour transformer le signal converti en signal décodé. Une partie de ce signal décodé est associée à un repère sur ladite électrode. Des moyens de conversion servant à convertir ledit signal décodé en code d'électrode permettent d'obtenir un code représentant une caractéristique associée à cette électrode.
