A marking template for defining and marking the area to be removed from a wall panel to accommodate a behind the wall structure such as an electric box. The template consists of a flexible flat plate having the shape and size of the wall box and provided with a low tack adhesive surface capable of lightly adhering to the back of the wall panel when placed in contact with therewith. The template is provided with at least a pair of tabs which extend to frictionally engage the interior surface of the wall box to hold the template in place until it is engaged with the back of the panel and adhered thereto.
