A device for applying tape from a roll of tape (e.g., masking tape) along a surface to be protected with an edge of the tape extending along a juncture between the surface to be protected and a surface to be treated disposed at about a right angle with respect to the surface to be protected. The device includes a two portion housing around and journaling the tape roll, each portion having a tape contacting part of its inner surface in a first plane, and having in a second plane a guide part of its outer surface adapted to be slid along the surface to be treated. The first and second planes on each of the housing portions can be parallel or at a small angle with respect to each other so that they intersect along an application side of the housing. A pressure application structure is mounted on the housing with an outer edge each end of the pressure application structure at the intersection (if they intersect) of the first and second planes for a different adjacent one of the housing portions. The pressure application structure is mounted on the housing for limited pivotal movement in a plane at about a right angle with respect to a plane along the guide surface. The roll of tape can be mounted in the housing for free rotation and axial movement. Tape from the roll extends around the periphery of the pressure application structure so that the dispenser can be manually positioned with either housing portion against the surface to be treated and moved to apply the tape, whereupon pressures applied to the tape being dispensed by the pressure application structure in the device will cause the side surface of the roll of tape to move toward or into contact with the tape contact part of the inner surface of the housing portion being slid along the surface to be treated so that the tape is accurately applied.
L'invention concerne un dispositif destiné à appliquer un ruban d'un rouleau de ruban (p. ex. du ruban masque) le long d'une surface à protéger, un bord du ruban s'étendant le long d'un joint entre la surface à protéger et une surface à traiter placée à peu près à angle droit par rapport à la surface à protéger. Ce dispositif comprend un boîtier en deux parties fixé autour du rouleau et soutenant ce dernier en rotation, chaque partie possédant une pièce de sa surface intérieure en contact avec le ruban dans un premier plan, et possédant dans un second plan une pièce de guidage de sa surface extérieure conçue pour être glissée le long de la surface à traiter. Le premier et le second plan de chacune des parties de boîtier peuvent être positionnées entre elles en parallèle ou à un petit angle de manière à se croiser le long d'un côté d'application de ce boîtier. Une structure d'application de pression est montée sur le boîtier avec un bord extérieur à chaque extrémité de cette structure d'application de pression placé à l'intersection du premier et du second plan (s'ils se croisent) destiné à un bord contigu différent de ces parties de boîtier. La structure d'application de pression est montée sur le boîtier de sorte à la faire pivoter de manière limitée dans un plan se situant à peu près à angle droit par rapport à un plan s'étendant le long de la surface de guidage. Le rouleau de ruban peut être monté dans le boîtier de façon à lui permettre de tourner librement et effectuer un mouvement axial. Le ruban de ce rouleau s'étend autour de la périphérie de cette structure d'application de pression de sorte à ce que le distributeur puisse être positionné manuellement avec l'une ou l'autre partie de boîtier contre la surface à traiter et déplacé afin d'appliquer ce ruban. Les pressions exercées sur le ruban distribué par la structure d'application de pression dans le dispositif font que la surface latérale du rouleau de ruban se déplace ensuite vers ou entre en contact avec la pièce en contact avec le ruban de la surface intérieure de la partie de boîtier qui est glissée le long de la surface à traiter de sorte à ce que le ruban soit appliqué avec précision.
