ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A masonry supporting device and method for constructing a masonry wall using the device is disclosed. The device is constructed of unitary structure having a first pair of parallel faces spaced a first dimension apart and having a second pair of parallel faces spaced a second dimension apart. The device is configured to removably reside intermediate opposed cantilevered horizontal surfaces of a masonry wall during the time that the masonry wall is being fabricated. The first dimension is equivalent to the dimension separating the opposed cantilevered horizontal surfaces of the masonry wall when the masonry wall is fabricated using a mortar layer having a first thickness and the second dimension being equivalent to the dimension separating the opposed cantilevered horizontal surfaces of the masonry wall when the masonry wall is fabricated using a mortar layer having a second thickness.
