A mass flow meter working on the Coriolis principle comprises at least one measuring tube (1) at least two energy converters (4, 5) acting as oscillation exciters (S) or oscillation detectors (M) and an evaluating circuit (24) for determining the mass flow. Waves are produced which travel in and against the direction of flow (X) along the measuring tube (1). At least one measuring path (A1) serves to find the speed of travel in and against the direction of flow. The evaluating circuit (24) determines the mass flow utilising the difference between the two speeds of travel. In particular, the difference of the times of travel of the waves can be processed in the evaluating circuit. This leads to a measurement independent of a departure from the zero point and of a current profile.
