ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Mass transfer equipment comprises a base having at least one riser with an inwardly and upwardly elongated slo- ping side wall and a moveable valve cap positioned above the riser, having an outwardly and downwardly elongated sloping side wall. Legs extend downwardly from the valve cap and possess stops which limit the movement of the valve cap to such an extent that the lower edge of the sloping side wall of the valve cap is never above the upper edge of the sloping side wall of the riser. Dimples may be provided on the riser to prevent sticking when the valve is closed.
