A mat for reducing the disturbance of particulate matter by wind, has a first layer of coarse mesh material, and a second layer of coarse mesh material. The first layer is held in a substantially fixed position relative to the second layer. The mat is particularly suitable for use as a helicopter landing mat, in conditions where dust, sand, snow, water or other particles or liquids might otherwise cause a disturbance resulting in loss of visibility, damage or wear to parts of the helicopter, and injury or damage to nearby people or equipment.

L'invention concerne un tapis permettant de réduire les perturbations dues aux matières particulaires sous l'effet du vent, qui comporte une première couche de matériau maillé grossier, et une seconde couche de matériau maillé grossier. La première couche est tenue dans une position sensiblement fixe par rapport à la seconde couche. Ce tapis se prête particulièrement bien à une utilisation comme tapis d'atterrissage pour hélicoptère, dans des conditions faisant que de la poussière, du sable, de la neige, de l'eau ou d'autres particules ou liquides pourraient normalement entraîner des perturbations qui abaissent la visibilité, endommagent ou détériorent des pièces de l'hélicoptère, et blessent des personnes ou endommagent des équipements dans le voisinage.
