A boring tool (10) for use with compacted graphite iron, gray cast iron and other materials which includes at least one self-propelled rotating cutter insert (15). The insert is carried in a cartridge (16) in which the insert is rotatable about its axis (27) which is a secondary axis relative to a boring tool body (11).
