An article of manufacture which comprises a material for sealing threaded pipe joints comprising a multifilament yarn (7) ready-coated with a joint sealing composition and packaged in a dispenser (1) from which the coated yarn may be supplied for direct application to a threaded area of a pipe. The dispenser comprises a hollow body (1), a cap portion (13) having a dispensing aperture (16) therein and closure means (14) for closing over the aperture when the dispenser is not in use and a multifilament yarn (7) ready-coated with a pipe-joint sealing composition is contained in the body. Suitably, the sealing composition is a non-curing paste composition which comprises an oil and filler, optionally with other ingredients, the oil being selected from linseed oil, silicone oils and mineral oils. Suitably, the yarn is of polyamide or polypropylene.
Article manufacturé comprenant un matériau pour étanchéifier des raccords de tuyau fileté. Ce matériau se compose d'un fil multifilament (7) pré-enduit d'une composition d'étanchéification de raccord et conditionné dans un distributeur (1) permettant de distribuer le fil enduit de manière à l'appliquer directement sur la zone filetée d'un tuyau. Le distributeur comporte un corps (1) creux, une partie (13) bouchon (13) présentant une ouverture (16) de distribution et des moyens (14) de fermeture qui se referment sur l'ouverture lorsque le distributeur n'est pas utilisé, et un fil multifilament (7) pré-enduit d'une composition d'étanchéification de raccord de tuyau est contenu dans le corps. La composition d'étanchéification appropriée est une de pâte non durcissant, contenant une huile et une charge, éventuellement complétés par d'autres ingrédients, l'huile étant sélectionnée parmi les huiles de lin, de silicone et les huiles minérales. Le fil adéquat est un fil de polyamide ou de polypropylène.
