A conveyor (134) conveys sheets (102) and deposits the sheets (102) at a location (124) to be stacked. The conveyor (134) includes a sensor (137) for determining the presence of a sheet (102) before the sheet (102) arrives at the location (124). A controller (138) is coupled to the sensor (137) and responsive to sensor (137) inputs for controlling a movable support (140; 142) for projecting into a projected orientation to receive the sheets (102) as the sheets (102) exit the conveyor (134). The movable support (140; 142) moves to a retracted orientation to assist a stack (128) to be withdrawn therefrom. Apparatus (160) for manipulating pallets (126) includes a conveyor (161), a mechanism (162) for tilting the conveyor between a generally horizontal orientation and an orientation in which a first end (166) of the conveyor (161) is elevated above a second end (164) of the conveyor (161), a first shifting mechanism (168) to shift the conveyor. (161) horizontally along a first axis, a second shifting mechanism (167) for shifting the conveyor horizontally along a second axis generally perpendicular to the first axis, and an elevator mechanism (178) for raising and lowering the conveyor (161) along a third axis generally perpendicular to the first and second axes. Apparatus (200) for dispensing a pallet (126-1, 126-2, . . . 126-n) includes vertically spaced magazines (126-1, 126-2, ... 126-n), conveyors (220-1, 220- 2, ... 220-n), and an elevator (206). The conveyors (220-1, 220-2, .. . 220-n) and elevator (206) are selectively operable to deliver a pallet (126-1, 126-2, . .. 126-n) from the magazine (126-1, 126-2, ... 126-n) in which that pallet (126-1, 126~-2, ... 126-n) is located to a common location (160).

L~invention concerne aussi un appareil (200) de distribution d~une palette (126-1, 126-2, . . . 126-n), comportant des magasins (126-1, 126-2, ... 126-n) à séparation verticale, des transporteurs (220-1, 220-2, ... 220-n), et un mécanisme élévateur (206). Les transporteurs (220-1, 220-2, .. . 220-n) et le mécanisme élévateur (206) peuvent être actionnés de façon sélective pour distribuer une palette (126-1, 126-2, . .. 126-n) à partir du magasin (126-1, 126-2, ... 126-n) contenant cette palette (126-1, 126-2, ... 126-n) et pour l~amener à un emplacement commun (160).
