A separating device and method for padding pipelines which attaches to a bucket (20) and has a bottom support (30) with sloping walls (32, 32') for directing the padding material. A shaker assembly (41) having a screen a vibrator assembly (43) is mounted on the bottom support (30), wherein at least one resilient mount (50, 50') is used to mount the shaker assembly (41) to the bottom support (30).
